Since its beginnings at the Sacramento County Courthouse Plaza in 2002, admission to our event has always been free - supported by donors and sponsors who are recognized frequently from the stage, at our exhibition area, in our full-color program, through social media, and on our website.
The Event
California Freethought Day returns to the steps of the California State Capitol Building on October 6 (Sunday), 2024.
The event unites our state’s non-religious community to celebrate freethought in its many forms – in an outdoor festival that includes live entertainment, community groups, powerful speakers, authors, podcasters, and family fun.
The Attendees
A diverse attendance of 400 is expected at our main event who are passionate and progressive about a variety of pressing issues including social justice, civic engagement, and secular rights.

The Exhibitors
Each year, dozens of community groups, non-profit organizations, and businesses join our event with an exhibitor table that our attendees can visit any time during the event.
Although exhibitors cannot sell product at our event, they can build awareness about their organization while collecting contact information to build their membership.
California Freethought Day is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and run by volunteers.
