California Freethought Day

California State Capitol Building

California Freethought Day will be held at the California State Capitol Building (1100 L Street), on the North Steps.

For those not familiar with the Downtown Sacramento area, let us help you find your way:

Be sure to register online - it's free and quick! Only registered attendees will be eligible for door prizes, plus it will help us know how many chairs and programs we'll need.

Sunday street parking is generally free in the Capitol area -- and there is a large parking structure for $5/day just one block north of the Capitol (corner of 10th and L Street). Be sure to check all street signs!

Public Transit

Travel at ease while saving the planet. Here's a few options:

There is a SacRT bus stop two blocks east from the north side of the California State Capitol Building (on L Street between 7th and 8th). It serves lines 11, 30, 38, 62, 86, 88.

Take Amtrak to Sacramento, and after a one-mile walk you'll be at the Capitol. Use the Capitol Corridor route from the East Bay, or the San Joaquins route from Bakersfield.

Coming from Southern California? Take the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Sacramento and head back on Monday. Time it right, and you'll be able to attend Saturday's Reception.

Light Rail

Using the Light Rail, the Blue and Gold lines will take you within two blocks of the Capitol.

Use Yolobus from Davis (42B), West Sacramento (42B or 240), Woodland (42A), or the Airport (42A), for a direct route that leads to just two blocks from the Capitol.

Other Other agencies provide transit to the Capitol, too! Check with El Dorado Transit, Fairfield, and Yuba/Sutter.

For those who prefer to carpool, please check with your local Meetup groups and other networks to make arrangements. We've also set up  an account at GroupCarpool to make finding carpooling buddies easier.
